Case: Strengthening Financial Control and Preparing for Sale

Challenge:
The CEO and majority shareholder (DGA) faced several challenges: limited financial visibility, fragmented reporting, and insufficient insights into customer profitability, cost structures, and outstanding receivables. As the business matured, the need for robust management information became critical — both to optimize day-to-day operations and to prepare the company for a potential sale to a private equity (PE) party.

Approach:
Acting as CFO and strategic sparring partner to the DGA, we implemented a consolidated monthly reporting structure in Power BI. This solution provided clear and actionable insights into key performance areas, including:

  • Financial results at group and subsidiary level

  • Customer profitability and margin analysis

  • Detailed cost breakdowns and cost drivers

  • Accounts receivable aging and working capital monitoring

To provide the management team with a deeper historical perspective, we developed a comprehensive Power BI dashboard incorporating historical data going back to 2017. This enables the leadership team to easily identify trends, monitor performance over time, and spot opportunities for operational improvement.

We also introduced regular management reviews, focused on turning data into action: discussing the root causes behind trends, defining KPIs, and prioritizing initiatives to improve profitability and cash flow.

The company’s leadership now operates with a much higher level of financial control and transparency. With up-to-date and well-structured data, the management team can make faster and better-informed decisions, whether it’s optimizing margins, improving collections, or reallocating resources.

Additionally, we are currently supporting the company in preparing for a future sale process. This includes improving financial processes, documentation, and KPIs to ensure the company is well-positioned when engaging with potential private equity investors. The company is on track to enter negotiations with a clear, data-driven story that demonstrates both historical performance and future potential.
